Project Runway 9x12 Wow, these people are playing the game wrong. Someone (VIKTOR) should have snatched up Bert, so Anya would be stuck with either Bryce or Oliver. Oliver! The slowest of the bunch. I loved Bryce's comment about the tension in the room. "Everyone loved each other when I was there. We had orgies every evening. Now you don't even talk." I'm really loking forward to Anya because now with Bert as a sample maker we can really see what she has to offer as a designer. Is it pure luck or skill? I like the circly fabric Laura chose but her inspiration is a bit flat. Just to be inspired by circles is not going to be enough. I like what's on Josh's dress form. Anthony Ryan does glue the dresses on his models. I knew it! :P The Kluminator was wearing a dress too short and hair she didn't brush. Runway: Josh's first look doesn't fit well. I bunches in the back and doesn't give the model a waist. It's also too simple. Josh knew the problems with the second look. It made the model look very heavy in the middle, almost as if the vest is pulled up. Such a pity. I looked so promising on the dress form. I didn't like the third look but I don't like asymetrical looks in general. Kimberly's coat looked good. I liked the skirt of the second look but the top is vulgar. And even though I liked the idea of the cocktail dress, the draping on the bottom didn't work too well in my opinion. I loved Laura's first look. Not a fan of the empire style second dress but the gown was really pretty. Anya's collection looked like Bert's, didn't it? I liked the white gown. I like Viktor's leather jacket. We have seen the third dress before from him. + I have to say that Anya is really good at giving a pitch. I loved what Michael Kors said to Viktor (him being a commercial designer). And yet again everyone falls all over Anya. Current Mood: amused |

Sticking it Where do you usually sit when you browse the net? Living room? Do you lie in bed? Sit at a desk? Usually I sit at a desk or in the kitchen, but right now I'm sitting in an armchair that's standing in the hallway.I'm living in a flat under the roof and they are renewing it right now so the hallway is the only halfway quiet room. Right in front of me is the wardrobe and my umbrella stand. So I'm listening to old Roseanne epsiodes, drink coffee and eat candy* while I type. *Those compressed dextrose hard candies in form of hearts. Today I bought a nice pair of house slippers from Hunkemöller (lingerie store) and got a compliment from the store employee. She said she liked the buttons on my jacket and asked if I sewed them on myself which I did. I also got the same compliment yesterday from a friend of a friend who said that it was a cool idea. I had to sew on new buttons because I got the jacket for 5 € and almost all buttons were missing. Has anybody watched the gymnastic's world cup? I've seen the women's and men's team final on youtube. Germany isn't broadcasting live (even though the finals were around noon). I don't know if Eurosport has lost the rights to gymnastics. I always loved their commentary. It was a lot better than ZDF/ARD. And that goes for all sport competitions they broadcast. In the men's team final Romania wasn't show once. It was almost deliberate. They finished last, 15 points behind Korea. For those not in the know: 15 points is the average for one routine. ETA: And this is exactly what happened to Romania. "Marius Berbecar’s hand slid in the support phase of his double front vault and the result was zero points." I giggled. ( Egg salad ) Current Mood: blankCurrent Music: hammering and drilling |

trailer: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy What to like about this trailer: the awesome music by Danny Elfman (he did that song for "Wolfman") What worries me is the 1970s setting. The hair cuts and most of the fashion back then are terrible. And the whole cold war spy thing. Songs I've been listening to: Martin Solveig - I just came to say helloRadical Face - Welcome home (or here in case youtube geoblocks again). +Doctor Who+ Maybe I shouldn't even talk about this yet (I haven't seen the last episode) but this season was disappointing. I liked "The Doctor's Wife" (Tardis gets a body) and "The God Complex" (hotel guests) but there weren't outstanding episodes and the story arc felt forced and at times hard to believe. Even the very first episode was dull in the middle. I remember thinking: is this going anywhere? |

Weird weather today. It was super foggy in the morning (not just early morning but around 8.30 am) and now it's very sunny. Sunset from a few days ago. I started my fitness program on the 17th of July and kept up all through August but for the last week I really neglected it. One reason was a visit home where I celebrated my mom's birthday, another was that I worked a lot this last month. And work means a free workout (I stack heavy boxes half the time, push heavy carts around etc) and riding my bike to work. And now that I got rid of the carpet in my living room I gave my blankets and pillows to my parents so everything could be washed. I used one of the blankets as a padding when I do my crunches. So now it's a folded bath towel and the hard linoleum floor under my butt. +Project Runway+ First of all, I thought that the last challenge was fun in theory. The band was certainly up for it and they went along. But the clothes! Jesus Christ on a motorcycle the fucking clothes. Was there some twist we weren't told? Why was everyone dresses so 60s/70s? Why was nobodoy making nice leather pants? Why were there so many prints? I mean, you are dressing future rock stars, no is not the time for paisley scarves. Bert grew on me this episode. I agree with Nina, the styling of the lead singer with the braids was fucking genius. He looked like a viking (except vikings don't wear tie-dye). Anyway, this song started to play in my head when I saw him: Josh's idea with the prominent zipper was good but he ruined the look with bell bottoms and those weird back pockets. I'm so glad to never see Oliver again but I half-expected him to stay in just so the producers could wring more drama out of his assholeness. |

vent here I have to give kudos to the AVOS team. They user input must have been immense. And they immediately changed the contac us section of their help site to "migration" "feedback" and *drum roll* "complain!!!". That is kinda funny. I gave evernote a try but looking for an import/export feature for 10 minutes I gave up. I will give delicious a week or so to get their shit together and if nothing happens I will probably sign up with pinboard. |

Anyone else having problems with the new delicious? Ah, wouldn't it have been nice if the transition went smoothly? Too much to hope for, I guess. I checked everything out and wrote AVOS a message with my problems concerning the display of all tags and adding tags to search in someone's bookmarks (or links as they are called now).
Hello
I noticed that it's not possible to look for a certain bookmark/link by adding a second tag (delicious.com/myusername/link1+link2) if one of the links contains a symbol such as _ ... + . Since many people used those symbols before it makes huge numbers of links unsearchable. Maybe it's some sort of glitch. Also: Where can I see every tag a user has used (not just the last 20 on the right hand side)?

I was super tired yesterday so I only clicked the link and then decided to wait with watching but I was excited to find out that Kathy Griffin's new special "Pants off" has been posted to youtube. I read in Grazia (a German fashion/celeb magazine) that Italian women have 20 to 60 hand bags on average. I know that these numbers are probably completely random but wanted to see how many bags I own. ( Only 10! ) |

Emmys I'm watching the Emmys right now. The Emmytoones are redundant (and got more embarrassing as the evening progressed) as is the announcer who makes cracks as winners walk to the stage. Too bad you can't hear him half the time over the music. The introduction was too busy making jokes about itself. That's just cheap. Bud the bit with the cast of Mad Men was funny. And the Jersey Shore sketch was funny. Lynch did say "you are my chosen one" to someone in Glee in the first season, didn't she? What really pisses me off that all the thank you speeches sounded so false. There was an incredible amount of sucking up to people and tv stations (the whole drama category was a bloody hymn to HBO). And people were mentioned for having "intelligence and humanity and inspiration". And thanks were giving truly. Why have I never heard about "Justified", "Too big to fail" or "Luther" before? And now I'm really interested in "The Good Wife" and "Mike & Molly". Oh, and I've just been spoiled by an actress from "Justified". Thanks. ( spoilery thoughts )Hallelujah is an awesome song but that version was terrible. Not the singers but the terrible background sound. That's how you do it (just sound, no video): I agree with almost everything Television without pity brought up. ETA: Have some pretty! Amber Riley looked fantastic. I liked Jane Lynch's first look in the show (seen here) and I'm sure that I saw that dress before. The rest of the Glee posse dressed horribly. And I liked Claire Danes and Emily Blunt but at least Claire had trouble walking on stage because there wasn't much leg room. I would wear Christine Baranski's dress (it's apparently midnight blue not black) and the one of Lena Headey. And Kerry Washington (whoever that is) had this awesome red dress. |

Project Runway 9x08 I liked the challenge. Having a loved one help with the design probably kept the drama down. I don't remember anyone saying that she hates the whole idea. Is Bryce getting the loser edit? I liked the grey/pink dress the woman was wearing in the fitting room and then he scraped that and made an all pink dress even though he didn't like the colour? Because if I don't like something, I use more of it, right? Oliver is starting to get on my nerves. If he doesn't want to dress women with breasts (they disturb the "line" of the clothes), he should dress men. Problem solved. The top is ugly. He always uses those boring colours. And he is not able to fit pants. "Non-speaking person?" He is not just annoying he is also rude. Bert's looked terrible in the fitting but I liked the metallic fabric he used. Anya chose an interesting pattern again. Viktor's design is adorable. I wish I could wear a skirt this high-waisted. Love it! I hope he wins. And Josh's dress is nice, too. I like the back. I wouldn't wear a dress like that because my breasts need some support. Kimberly had her model in a skirt that was too tight and too short. Is that a thing with her? That she doesn't know how to fit a skirt? +++ Runway: Laura's looked a lot like her client. The colour is very nice. I completely forgot Anthony's. I like the neckline of the dress but the proportions of the dress are off. Maybe the skirt should have been fuller or longer? The brown top looks very heavy with the flimsiness of the skirt. Bert's is very well made. All the seams look aligned and symmetrical. Bryce's looked good on the runway. Nice back. I have to correct myself with Kimberly. The proportions of the dress work and the fit was good. No riding up or bunching. The top is pretty, too. Viktor's client is named Victoria? Haha. There were no disasters on the runway. I hope Oliver goes home. +++ Elimination: ( Read more... ) |

Project Runway 9x07 Team Nuts and Bolts:
Oh my God, I'm seeing Kim's skirt and I'm thinking that she is going to go home for this. Terrible. How can you not notice that the bottom of the skirt is so tight that it rides up on the model's legs and gives her a (full) diaper look?
I really liked Laura's jump suit. It's the best outfit of the team. Love the details on the back (those little epaulette shoulder straps).
I like the colour story of the team.
Team Chaos:
I don't know. I thought Viktor's look was good and I liked Anthony's skirt and the pattern (patterns?) they used but overall this was a very safe collection. A cocktail dress (what I would call "Etuikleid"), an evening gown in a very classic shape, a pair of shorts, a pair of trousers etc. Both teams used pattern in black and white but N&B was a lot more "out there". It's a love/hate reaction with the Bert's dress for instance but team Chaos made those "inoffensive" lines/blots.
I guess I like Viktor's the best and Oliver's the least. Oliver's jacket felt overworked. I would have liked it if he used the pattern there and did pants in one colour.
So, let's see what the judges said.
Surprise, Team Chaos won. Heidi said that she hadn't seen the prints before which is bullshit. Everyone has seen a Rorschach test, everone was seen the pattern they used for Anthony's "masculine" blouse.
It's not that I don't like most of Team Chaos' clothes. I would wear most of them and I wouldn't wear most of Team N&B (not even Laura's jumpsuit - for the simple reason that I need to wear a bra to go out in public).
PR is approachable and commercial not "fashion forward".
[Unknown LJ tag] Winner is Anya. I thought it would be Viktor. Loser is Becky. |

thought about "Let's kill Hitler" Doctor Who I think that Nazi plot (if you can even call it that) was a cheap trick to get the Doctor in some period clothes that looked good in the trailers and some one-liners. DW should stay away from Nazis in general. Not that they did anything with it because as soon as River came along they completely dropped them. The rest could have been set in any time and place.
I still love the library two-parter but the more we learn about River and her relationship with the Doctor the less powerful this episode becomes.
I guess I'm disappointed. I just saw the episode now (7 days after the premiere) because I hated the way they handled the whole "dropping in on Hitler" premise. Way to trivialize! |

recs Time for some pretty. Firstly I present Twisted Disney Princesses by JefToon. I like Sleeping Beauty and Snow White best. And Ariel is genuinely creepy (maybe it's the fish). Secondly I'm throwing you a curve ball by linking to a Katy Perry VMA picspam. What can I say? She looks fantastic in almost all the looks (not a fan of the last one). The clothes are colourful and fun. *ding dong* Oh, it's that time again! Smutty Fanfic Hour! The Eagle fandom (and its kink meme) explores some hot modern AU by setting Marcus and Esca up at a glory hole in Down on his knees. Marcus is the shy guy who can only explore his deepest desire in a gay night club. Esca is happy to oblige him. Powerless is a kink meme fill from The Social Network where Mark injured his hand and is sexually frustrated in turn. Eduardo has to help out. I discovered an amazing webcomic. Starfighter by Hamletmachine although I believe that everyone and their dog knows it. Weekly updates and not nearly finished. The art style is fantastic. It's the story of a pilot and his navigator (dubcon). I forgot to add that freece has posted a new chapter of Captive Prince. I was pretty disappointed after chapter 26. After all the tension the ( spoiler ) fell flat. It didn't manage to hold the tension and was over-analysed by the character (or overdrawn by the author?). And considering that the update rate is slow I was ready to break away from the fic. But the new chapter was enganging, tense and the one reference to the ( spoiler ) was hotter than the real thing. |

Project Runway 9x06 Liveblogging Project Runway Wow, Viktor is dishing it out. Is he supposed to be the villain this season? I thought that was Bert (wasn't the truce thing laughable?). I think Josh has a good piece of art to work with. It wasn't too specific, had two contrast colour and had strong lines. His sketch looks good but how is he going to work against gravity with the horizontal lines of the fabric? Did Anthony say "princess cut dress"? Mate, it's an avantgarde challenge. The faux fur of Josh (Mormon boy) is hideous. Throw it out! And the fucking sob stories. You can make a bingo card. "My mom died so I'm going to design a shitty dress in her honour" has been in every season so far. And I'm thinking that there will be one of the famous "twists" of the show. When they suddenly said that it's a two-day challenge it can only mean that on the second day they will have to to a ready-to-wear version. Anthony is again using a glue gun. Third time. And Josh is a "Schaumschläger". His talent rubbed off on Becky? Bitch, please. Josh C (Mormon) needs to get rid of the white fabric. The styling is terrible but it has been all season. It's the Avantgarde Challenge so we are going have the big hair and the weird stuff painted on the faces of the models. Haha, the whole cheating thing with Oliver amounted to nothing. If someone should be reprimanded for his glue gun use it's Anthony Ryan. He probably glued every single of of those "brush strokes" to the fabric. Okay, it's runway time. ( Read more... ) |

Dance Songs A few songs I'm listening to atm.
DJ Fresh - Louder (it would be an awesome track for the Olympics "we are gonna be faster, stronger, louder")
M83 - Kim & Jessie (I remember seeing this song on a music blog I followed almost a year ago)
So, what do these vids have in common? Right: Roller Skates! One deliberately akward, the other one hip.

| 6:41 pm |
Did Anthony Ryan say he wanted his model to look like an "Alabama plantation girl"? Are those the lingering effect of the glue gun he had to handle in the last challenge? WTF? (ETA: Oh, still using the glue gun. That explains it.) I love Joshua. His facial expressions are unbelievable. Bert and Viktor brought the drama to the work room whereas Becky and Kimberly need to step it up. Especially Kimberly. She should have ripped Anthony a new one. Too bad she didn't hear him (or he had the good graces not to make that comment in front of a black person). Oliver and Anya worked together very well, no? I liked their sketch a lot. But again with the mohawk hair (that was suggested by the stylist)? The tutu ballerina thing is so done. Why can't Fallene and Bryce see that? And I really hate the time restraints. Some of these looks could have been so much better. ReactionsThe first four designs were costumes. There is no other way of saying this. You can describe the inspiration in one word. 1. Josh and Julie: Matador - I liked the colour combination and thought the long pants were really striking. 2. Bert and Viktor: Viktorian Elizabethian - I wish they had done something more interesting. Where did the collar go? It's also a look that didn't use the different proportions of the stilts. You could see that look on any model. 3. Bryce and Fallene: Ballerina - A sad look. It looked like that girl just came from ballet practice. Everybody owns an undershirt like that. What was Bryce thinking? Even the wonky bodice Fallene did would have been better. I have a feeling Fallene is going home because she won't be able to defend it. 4. Kimberly and Becky: Military - Well, at least there was a design to it. I liked the colours they used. The pants looked good but the top was a bit big, no? And you could see the influence of Becky with the colourful lining. 5. Anya and Oliver: As I said the sketch looked interesting but the finished garment was a bit half-assed. Next time, Oliver do it like Anthony Ryan and glue everything together. But there are both in, I believe. 6. Cecilia and Danielle: One of the stylists is trying to sabotage you. The poor girl's hair was terrible. I didn't like the camel of the pants but the blouse was interesting. Nice play of volume with the sleeves. 7. Laura and Anthony Ryan: Glued those feathers like a boss, didn't he? Love the red. Love the proportion's play with the skirt-pants-combo. When they show the designers now from the waist up I imagine that they too are walking on stilts. ( Eliminations ) |
