invite codes

I have 2 invite codes for DW I'd like to share with the flist. I'd love to give them to people who don't have a DW journal yet.

DW - my thoughts let me show you them

What happened to [info]svartalfur?

+++

I set up a reading list (rist?) on DW with OpenID. I was just randomly adding people. If I get an account, I might even cross post between IJ and DW.

I don't know if I will invest much time in DW. I'm already in the closed beta testing of archiveofourown.org where I didn't do more than send two emails describing some layout problems.

I guess you cannot get a free account even if the DW opens on the 30th of April. You have to pay 3$ (for one month of paid time), right? Or get an invite code.

Couldn't they use a different name? Dreamwidth is difficult to pronounce (the "th"). And what does "Dreamwidth" mean? I just don't know how to translate the word to German. Is it supposed to mean "Traumbahn"? "Traumbreite" isn't a real word, or is it?

I can also see the problems arising with the "subscribe"/"grant access to" thing which looks good on paper but - as other people have pointed out - is a fancier way to "(de)friend" someone.

I just defriended someone a few days ago who posted a locked post where the person said s/he doesn't check her/his IJ and is just not interested. The thing is: I wouldn't have cared if the person never read my journal and never commented if the person just had kept silent about her/his reading habits. The minute the person posted the flocked entry I defriended the journal.
I always thought I'm "above" those trivial friending matters but I'm apparently not. I make a point of not checking who friended my back. The "friended by" option in my userinfo is hidden. I guess it's more visible at DW - the filters are public.
"Grant me access and subscribe to my journal - or else!" will be the new tenor. Longer than "friend me back", isn't it?
